Tip #12: Take a minute to investigate

Before you head out to a restaurant this weekend, take just a minute or two to do a little investigating. You may be surprised at what you find. I know it may seem a bit tedious, but really, it only takes a minute and it's worth it.

Simply go to the restaurant's website to see if they offer nutritional information for their food. For example, if you're heading to Chick-Fil-A anytime soon, check out their site; they have extensive nutritional info. You may head out planning on ordering a Chicken Sandwich. But if you check the nutritional info, you might just decide to order the grilled chicken sandwich instead, and save yourself 140 calories! As I always say...little changes over time make a BIG difference!

  1. Thanks, Sara! I was about to comment on the art of eating out post, but then got sidetracked (imagine that) and never finished it. I was going to ask you to be kind when you talk about fried food, and be sure to let everyone know the variety of healthier options we have at a certain chicken restaurant! At Chick-fil-A we made our salads and wraps fresh every day, and we also have fresh fruit, etc. Don't want anybody steering clear of our restaurant just because a fried sandwich is our hero product. You can even substitute fresh fruit for fries in the kids meals. I love this blog!

  2. Hey Jennifer, thanks for reading the blog. FYI...our family loves CFA! We are there every single week for kids' night. Thanks for the additional helpful advice. The CFA website is great, and even has a "meal calculator". Very cool.

  3. I LOVE CFA! I get the normal chicken sandwich with a wheat bun, no butter, and fruit instead of french fries. I would rather have the "fried" chicken then a white bun or fries. Like you said sara, little changes
